Murphy Associates - Our Programs


Karen Murphy is president of Murphy Associates, a SOMWBA certified training and consulting organization specializing in Occupational Spanish, Occupational Portuguese, Cross-cultural initiatives and Customer Service. Murphy Associates was established in early 2000 with training programs targeting public, private and non-profit sectors. Murphy Associates’ clients are from many different industries and include companies such as United Parcel Service, the Massachusetts State Lottery, Sears Roebuck and Co., The Colorado Judicial Branch, Lowe’s Companies, Inc., The 99 Restaurant, Maloney Properties, Inc., Westchester County Dept. of Probation and the JAN Companies. Beginning her professional career as a teacher of modern foreign languages, Karen transited to the corporate environment in 1979. She has over twenty years of management experience in sales, marketing, business development and customer service. Working in both Fortune 500 and start-up ventures, she has built, serviced and managed business on a global scale. Her professional experience living and working abroad and dealing with international markets provides first-hand knowledge of the importance of language and cultural awareness skills along with the positive impact of exemplary customer service. She has worked with the Far East, has lived and worked in Europe and has worked and traveled in Latin and South America. She is proficient in Spanish, Danish and French and is knowledgeable in Japanese. Karen holds a B.A. in Modern Foreign Languages and a B.S. in Marketing from Westfield State College. She is also a certified Command Spanish® instructor.
